Daphné Nan LE SERGENT (b. 1975 Seul) works on the problematics of desterritorialization and its geopolitics issues but specially on the corporal inscription of this issues within individuals. A divided territory sometimes corresponds to a split, to a cleaved subjectivity. First of all it is through partitioned images and diptychs that Le Sergent makes this “schize” resound, this internal scission. Little by little, the image-territory (video/photo-drawing) becomes the place by which the gestures of the gaze, theirs trajectories and the furrows visual matter, echo all our body techniques and cultural habitus.
LE SERGENT has a Ph.D. in Aesthetic, Sciences and Technology of Arts and is lecturer at Université Paris 8. In 2009 she published The Pivotal-Image or an Eye’s account.
