Oreet ASHERY mines countercultures and trash aesthetics in performances, situations, public platforms, photographs, videos, mass-produced and unique artefacts, text and commissioned music. Her expansive and eclectic body of work is made of multilayered projects that reveal ideological, social and gendered paradigms, often through intimate moments of recognition, and tend to evolve around minority discourses.
Ashery exhibits and performs extensively in international contexts at private and public art institutions and site-specific unregulated locations. Her work is in different collections and has been published and discussed in numerous publications in many languages.
She is currently a Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Art, Painting Department and a Stanley Picker Fine Art Fellow at Kingston University.
Oreet Ashery lives and works in London (UK).
